Harp Coaching via Skype

Playing the celtic harp intuitively and freely from your heart | Mentoring for using celtic harp for sound healing

For advanced beginners, intermediate and professional players

(Recommendations for beginners see FAQ section below)

You already know the basics of harp playing and want to go deeper?

You want to transition from playing sheet music to playing from and expressing yourself from the heart?

I empower you to play music from your heart and find your own way of expressing yourself on this beautiful instrument - intuitively and from the heart, without sheet music. It is quite different from a regular harp lesson, so I also refer to it as harp coaching.

I share with you my experience of being a musician, sound healer, composer and "channeler".

Why work with me?

In regular harp lessons, you mainly learn new songs with each lesson and you see your teacher regularly, once a week, twice a week ... usually for years! And that's totally cool and valuable - it is just not what I offer. :)

Instead of teaching songs, I want to empower you in finding your own authentic expression in music and give you support with your personal questions, like:

  • How do you connect with your heart and access this space where music just flows?
  • How do you creatively write instrumentals and songs with lyrics?
  • How do you release blockages around expressing who you truly are?
  • What music wants to come through you? Are you comfortable with it?
  • How can you feel relaxed in your body while you do the multitasking of playing an instrument?
  • How do you work with fears of performing for other people?
  • For advanced players: How to get gently through the process of recording a CD and performing?
  • Can you love and accept yourself and your creation no matter what?
  • How to use your harp for sound healing & questions around using harp for healing in general

Support on your creative path

I can be your muse and support you on the creative path. I create a safe and non-judgemental space for you to discover your creativity and to be with what is and where you would like to go from there. What a beautiful experience to be seen and heard! You will be inspired to bring more awareness into your music so it becomes truly alive and vibrant!

This is what you will learn:

  • Playing the celtic harp intuitively and freely without sheet music - how to make a smooth transition from sheet music to free playing
  • Empowerment for your path - I set the sessions up so you are empowered to work on your own as much as possible. Rather than teaching you songs I guide you how to play your own music - straight from your heart!
  • Body, mind & flow - Mindfulness for musicians. This is about the connection between your body and the instrument and how to get into the flow so you can play intuitive and meditative music from the heart while being centered.

  • Optional: Singing with the harp - If you are keen, we can also explore the connection between harp and voice. It is going to be a holistic body-mind-spirit experience.
  • Guidance and support on how to use your harp for sound healing
  • Guidance and support on songwriting, performing & recording I will support you on how to go gently with performing and recording music & more.

About me & the harp

I've been playing instruments since I was a little child. I picked up the harp in 2010, attended a harp & healing workshop with Uschi Laar and have worked with many teachers and healers from different backgrounds. I started to share my knowledge about harp on my Youtube Channel and toured through Europe to perform and work with people. I have a background in martial arts (Tai Chi, Qi Gong), as well as Alexander Technique. I studied Applied Physiology of the Voice at the Lichtenberger institute which also researches the connection between body, voice and instrumental play. I know both worlds - being a musician, recording, performing - as well as channeling and playing meditative music. If it resonates with you and you want to learn more than just songs - I am honoured to guide you on your journey.

Please note, I do not teach total beginners or offer weekly harp lessons.

To get the best out of your session, I require that you know the basics on how to play the harp.

In the FAQ section below I have a description of what you need to know and also a list of teachers who can help you getting started!

Harp FAQ

How many sessions do I need?

Usually, 1-2 sessions are enough to provide you with everything you need at that moment. Some people occasionally return for check in sessions every couple of months. It is a personal choice. Book me if you need guidance. As simple as that.

I have never touched a harp! Can I still book you?

I no longer work with total beginners but with people who know the basics and want to go deeper.

If you are a total beginner, please see a harp teacher in your area or take some Skype lessons with a teacher of your choice. I do not offer regular weekly sessions and as a total beginner, you might need more support for a little while.

What do I need to know to book a coaching with you?

You need to know how to tune your harp, how to sit on it, hand-position, how to place your fingers, play triads, simple melodies. You do not have to be perfect, but to get the best out of our coaching sessions I require that you do know some basics. You do not have to be able to read sheet music.

Can you recommend a teacher / course?

Yes. Here is a collection of harp teachers who work via Skype and offer playing harp by ear (some also offer reading sheet music as well):

Teachers (Skype)

  • Christy-Lyn is a harpist and singer and also has a popular Youtube Channel - check her out, she is a really kind and fun person who plays both celtic and pedal harp.
  • Harriet Earis is well known in Europe for her stunning lever harp skills and does a lot of Skype lessons. I have met her on a harp festival and she is such a radiant joyful being - always laughing!
  • Tiffany Schaefer teaching playing irish / celtic tunes by ear. She also has a Youtube channel.
  • Gloria Galante is a professor at West Chester University. She teaches harp by ear and music theory using Skype. She is a metaphysical harp teacher who also does sound healing. (Don’t know her personally) Ggalante@wcupa.edu

Online Courses (with Feedback)

  • Harp-School Évi Simon and Sylvana Labeyrie teach by ear via Skype. They arrange pieces on the level of the students to play what they love. The students can book their lessons on an interactive calendar.
  • Hands on Harps offer an online course suitable for complete beginners. They teach mostly via the traditional "show and copy" way that an apprentice would have learned from a master, supplemented with the chance to get feedback on your playing by uploading videos.
